“ An easily integrated ARINC 429 interface with on-board intelligence ”
The PC429-X is an ISA PC bus compatible ARINC 429 Transmitter/Receiver card that requires minimal support once set up. The card requires an 8-bit ISA full size slot in the host computer and is mapped into the I/O portion of host address space (switch selectable) for easy system integration. It can be ordered with one to four channel pairs.
The PC429-X includes several driver interfaces with `Starter' top level programs. Documentation on the low level protocol with the card is included for users wishing to develop driver software. Users developing their own software drivers have access to receiver INTERRUPT mode. This is a special mode of operation that can be utilized to meet high throughput requirements. The general purpose software drivers are designed to allow easy communication between the application program and the PC429-X using easy to manipulate ASCII strings. The PC429-X utilizes high capacity, high speed FIFO registers for efficient data communications with the host while requiring only four bytes of address space in the I/O section of the host architecture. The PC429-X can simultaneously output up to 256 ARINC 429 words, and receive/store any ARINC 429 word.
The PC429-X Transmit (TX) buffer is structured with multiple `slots' (256 in Coarse Mode, 24 in Fine Mode) for each channel that can be individually configured. The PC429-X's Receive (RX) buffer is structured with 256 `slots' available for each channel. Each slot contains the following parameters: word label, word data, and word rate.
