The Alcatel-Lucent 5900 Media Resource Function (MRF) Release 6.3 is a comprehensive software product that fulfils the role of a powerful media server in packet-switched networks. This release of the product is the next major step in the evolution of software media processing integrating advanced audio-conferencing features, extensions for legal intercept and additional codecs. It targets the Alcatel-Lucent IMS solution deployments and fix NGN environment with MGC-12.
This product is ideal for Tier 1 fixed and mobile operators who have a very strong fixed mobile convergence (FMC) strategy that will be enhanced by deploying IMS. Operators in this segment should try to avoid a silo-based product approach. Therefore, there is a real value in media processing platforms that can be shared by various services, including legacy revenue-generating services, video telephony, content-based video services and standard network services in packet SIP networks.
