Isolated digital communication is one of the most common requirements of a production test system because of the need to communicate with handlers, binning equipment, and user controls. Keithley's digital I/O modules can also interact with racks of instruments to trigger events, start readings, and collect pass/fail results. Digital triggering and response enables fast and reliable test results that are not dependent on the communication bus in use. For hybrid test applications using smart instruments and digital communication techniques, tests can be run with instruments on GPIB, LXI, USB, or a serial bus without changing system performance.
The Model KPXI-RDI-8-16 combines eight general purpose relay outputs with 16 isolated digital inputs. This module can be used to handle a variety of AC and DC signals with improved reliability. The eight relays are rated to 120VAC or 24VDC to include a variety of power switching applications. All the relays are nonlatching, Form C, and the status of each relay output can be read back through software commands.
The KDIO-DRVR driver package offers example programs, such as a startup application that performs basic functions and verifies board communication. Also included is Code Creator, which lets users program with drop down menus and then displays the equivalent code in C.
