In a static sealing application, there is no movement between the sealing surfaces or between the seal surface and its mating surface.
The most frequent used static seal is the O-Ring. For more information on this sealing type please see the special O-Ring section
In addition to O-Rings, we offer a variety of other static seals, each with a specific function.
Back-up rings, which have no intended sealing function, are used as protective and supporting elements, most often with O-Rings. These products are made of extrusion-resistant material and are installed in a groove together with an elastomer sealing element, which is most often an O-Ring.
Advantages of the back-up ring are:
-
Use of O-Rings in high pressure applications
-
Use of O-Ring materials with low hardness
-
Compensation of radial sealing gaps
Other static seals in the Seals-Shop range are bonded seals (sealing discs that seal threads and flange joints) and Variseal® Face Seals which have a high spring loading. This allows for excellent sealing integrity at low pressure and is available for both internal and external pressure ranges.
Typical Static seals in our range are:
-
Back-up Rings for external sealing
-
Back-up Rings for internal sealing
-
Bonded Seals GM500
-
Variseal® Face Seal
