It is one of the two main modules of software JOVE :
It is aiming to design overhead electical lines supported by poles dug in the ground(wooden, concrete or metallic / simple or coupled / possibly in gantry). Starting from the topographic and possibly geotechnic input (raw GPS dat: Longitude/Latitude/Altitude), it goes until the production of all necessary documents: Spotting with detailed description for each support and its parts (pole, crossarm, Insulator strings, conductors, counterweights, foundations, ...), stress computations, sag computations, profiles, material balance sheet, cost computation for each possible alternative solution.
A submodule "LV/MV Network" allows to have in only one file all the lines and branch out of an energy source (transformer, solar farm, ...). In addition to mechanical computations, some electrical computations are possible here for optimising the conductors' size so as to have at all line's end a voltage loss below a given maximum. A global material balance sheet can be produced for the whole network. This submodule has turned out to be very useful for a lot of village electrification project in Africa.
It is possible to design "multilines", that is for example a 30 kV line with below on the same supports a 220/380V distribution lines and a public light line.
