Drawn bars are made from hot rolled wire rod or, if surface defect free bars are needed, of surface removed drawn wire. Imatra 550 is drawn from hot rolled bars. The specified mechanical properties will be met after drawing.
ComponentsLengths under 1.5 metres can be produced with a tolerance down to 1 mm.
Out of roundness
Out of roundness, measured as the difference between the max. and min. diameter, is max. 50 % of the diameter tolerance width.
Straightness
Straightness is measured according to EN 10278 B.1 as the height of arch i.e. the largest deviation from the straight line.
For drawn bars, the deviation is max 0.001 x L where L is the test length
End executions
Standard is cold sheared ends. On request one or both ends can be delivered square milled with a 45° or 30° chamfer.
Mechanical properties
Different mechanical properties are obtainable but are dependant upon steel grade, heat treatment and area reduction. More specific details on mechanical properties are available on request. Required mechanical properties must be specified in enquiries and orders.
