Rollforming is the making of a profile out of a steel strip. The forming is progressive and involves a number of rollforming stations with top and bottom rollers. The process is continuous and each station will produce a further step in the shaping of the profile. The process can include prepiercing and/or postpiercing, cut outs and other operations. Once the final shape has been achieved the steel profiles are cut to length.
By its very nature, rollforming is a process which permits consistent adherence to close tolerances, working in both heavy and lightweight materials. Rollformed shapes can be economically produced from an almost limitless variety of materials: precoated, stainless, phosphated, pregalvanized, copper, aluminium, ... and so on.
