At the outset, the Groschopp Company had set the task in developing a new LOW-COST-Servo-System which incorporated both the less expensive manufacturing process of brushless DC-motors ( Type BGK-NX ) and the excellent driving abilities of AC-Servo-motors ( Type EK ). To this end, a new encoder-system has been developed which quite inexpensively detects the exact position of the rotor at any given time within its Sine-shaped power supply. Furthermore, a cost-saving digital controller has been designed, comprising a mere minimum of the necessary functions usually found in Servo-controllers, but which is capable of reading and using sensor-signals of the new encoder-system. If the new system must be used together with a primary sensor-controlled positioning, then the option of using an incremental-encoder model is available. At present, stepper-motors are used in many areas, where the implementation of “High-End”- Servo-Systems proves too costly.
The VOLKSSERVO -System has been developed particularly for these areas of application. To enable the user to continue to utilize their stepper-motor-controls after replacing the stepper-motor with the new permanent-magnet VOLKSSERVO - Motor, the VOLKSSERVO - Controller offers an option of stepper-motor-interface which can process Quadrant-counting signals or pulse-directed signals. In conjunction with the incremental encoder model, an electric gear or a “Master-Slave” - appliance can be implemented which further widens the sphere of application of the VOLKSSERVO - System.
The VOLKSSERVO-System developed by the GROSCHOPP Company offers efficient, yet inexpensive drive-solutions. The VOLKSSERVO-System has been designed primarily for all areas of application, which do not necessarily need extremely high dynamic properties and/or very accurate rotor-positioning. The unit cost for this new system has been reduced to approx. half that of a compatible “High-End” - Servo-system. Hence, the VOLKSSERVO-System offers many customers, e.g. in the areas of packing-machinery, “pick-and-place” - robotics techniques, solder- and welding-techniques, winding machines, etc. a clever alternative to the classic High-End - Servo-system.
