Photovoltaic modules using thin layer technology
o.m.t provides solar modules whose light conversion is much more efficient than that of silicon modules.
The improved efficiency results from their low temperature coefficient which means they are more effective at higher temperatures.
The actual operating temperature of a solar module is typically between 50 and 60 °C. Crystalline solar cells become markedly less efficient with increasing temperature. Thin layer solar modules, by contrast, undergo only a slight drop in efficiency. In full sunlight at 60°C thin layer solar modules still achieve an efficiency of 94% whereas silicon modules only manage 84%.
