Many applications in optical measurement systems or data communication networks require distribution and modulation of light, guided in optical fibers. The series FSM-13, FSM-14, FSM-16 and FSM-19 multimode optical fiber switches were developed mainly for applications in the field of spectroscopy and metrology. The signal of one input fiber can be switched to 3 (FSM-13) or up to 9 (FSM-19) output channels.
Based on the cascaded mechanical switching principal a number of 81 output channels can be provided.
The unique switching principles based on piezoelectric elements providing a fast switching frequency up to 500Hz. The system is very compact, insertion losses are < 0.6dB. These systems work with multimode fibers with a core diameter from 50µm up to 600µm. Other fiber parameter can be offered without problems on request.
All switches of piezosystem jena work without any optical components. Hence there is no dependency on any wavelength. All switches can be used from UV up to the IR region.
Standard switch configuration comes with one meter fiber length on input and output connectors. Bulkhead connectors are also available. The switch is controlled by parallel port interface. A controlling software comes with the switch.
