Two grades: standard and special are available.
These metakaolins are silico-aluminous precursors of the flash metakaolin type whose design has been optimised for the cold synthesis of geopolymers and for use in alkali-activated mixtures.
In combination with a suitable alkali silicate or other suitable activating solutions, these metakaolins allow the creation of Si-O-Al-O-Si covalent bonds and thus form a strong amorphous mineral glass.
These metakaolins are used to formulate geopolymers with excellent fire and heat resistance.
They allow to :
- Limit the water demand of the precursor,
- Maximise the transformation of Al VI to Al V and Al IV, thereby increasing its reactivity with alkaline solutions.
They contain little calcium oxide. Used alone or in a mixture with other precursors not containing CaO, they do not contribute to the formation of CSH.
They contain a few percent of Hematite (Fe2O3), which can be integrated into the geopolymeric network.
They are products of a dedicated and controlled industrial process. Their chemistry is stable over time.
