Lightfast flexibilizer for coatings, sealants and plastics : Desavin®

Even with the highest-performing binders, it is challenging to get the properties of an applied coating just right for an application. That is why additives are so important. Though they are used at very low levels, they can help formulators create coatings that meet specific performance requirements.

Desavin® (di(phenoxy-ethyl) formal) from Covestro is a nonsolvent flexibilizer that provides a good plasticizing and gelatinizing effect in coatings, sealants and plastics without negatively affecting other properties.

Coatings formulated with Desavin® offer good elasticity and adhesion properties without any reduction in lightfastness or weather resistance.

Additionally, Desavin® is resistant to acids and alkalis and is compatible with alkyd, acrylic and polyurethane resins, chlorinated rubber, bituminous materials, alcohols, esters, ketones and aromatic hydrocarbons, and other plasticizers.
