The Twist-off screw supports Weil’s operating technique for the reconstruction of hammer toes.
Using a mandrel the screw is screwed through the osteotomy, with or without predrilling, and the outer section is then broken off (or released) as soon as the screw head is seated in the cortex.
The thread is self-drilling/self-tapping and has a broad pitch.
