Wherever cyclones are used as separators, blockages of the cellular wheel sluice, which are caused by material accumulation, may occur. Material and dust will then escape into the atmosphere. Production interruptions and pollution of the environment are the result.
The GreCon Cyclone Plug-Up Detector ABC 7 monitors the material flow in critical zones. Accumulation of material will trigger an alarm which will cause the shut-down of fans.
Technology:
Infrared transmitters and receivers are mounted on the cyclone walls to monitor the material flow. Unlike usual light barriers, the infrared signal penetrates the material flow and is registered by the receiver.
An increase in density of the material flow will interrupt the infrared signal. If the receiver does not register any signal, an alarm will be immediately activated, and the material flow to the cyclone will be automatically stopped.
To avoid that short-term increases in material density lead to an alarm and shut-down of the relevant plant area, an alarm threshold is integrated in the system. The time period, after which the system should react, can be determined.
Control Console:
The core of the cyclone plug-up detector is the ABC7 control console. It collects the information coming from the inspection zones at the cyclones. In the case of an increase in material density in one of the connected cyclones, an alarm will be automatically activated and the fans in the relevant areas shut down via voltage-free relay outputs.
Thanks to the modular design, the control console can be upgraded for the monitoring of up to 12 cyclones by means of a modern system of plug-in cards.
Infrared Transmitters and Receivers:
Special infrared transmitters are used to create a steady infrared signal. The receivers are equipped with a highly sensitive electronics to receive the infrared signals. Together, both components guarantee a perfect operation, even in the case of big cyclone dimensions where long distances lie between transmitter and receiver.
Two different designs are available for different applications.
Sender VIS / Receiver VIE:
If process temperatures are below 60° C, the transmitters and receivers can be mounted directly on the cyclone wall.
Transmitter VIS-L / Receiver VIE-L:
In areas with high process temperatures, such as material dryers, the transmitters and receivers are equipped with fibre optic cables. The electronics can thus be installed outside the high ambient temperatures.
Mounting Adapters:
The transmitters and receivers, or the fibre optic cables in high-temperature areas, are mounted on the cyclone wall with patented mounting adapters. These adapters are flush-mounted in the cyclone wall so that they do not disturb the material flow.
