Many operations require the operator to gain access to the roof of the truck or the dome of the tank. Falling from a vehicle remains one of the greatest risks of accident at work.
There are several possible solutions to prevent this from happening, and to make getting on and off the vehicle easier and safer for the operator:
Access via a fixed structure:
In the case of an existing building from which the operator climbs onto the vehicles, AC2M offers the folding stairway system (also known as a folding gangway or folding footbridge). To reach the truck dome in complete safety, the operator unhooks the stairs (which is locked in the rest position) and positions it on the vehicle. The stairs are unfolded and provide access to the safety cage (cantilever), which is positioned over the area where work is to be carried out on the truck. The work is perfectly safe.
If access is required in an area not yet equipped with a platform, AC2M recommends installing a complete solution comprising an an industrial metal staircase with two ramps, a platform and a custom-designed folding stairway. This is an assembly designed and manufactured to the customer's specifications.
Access via a mobile structure:
When the vehicle is not always parked in the same place, AC2M suggests using a mobile ladder. This is a height-adjustable access ladder fitted with a safety cage to protect the operator during work. It can be easily manoeuvred by a single person.
