The sensor consists of an outer electrode (usually the pipe through which the fluid flows) and one electrode or more measuring electrodes.
The capacitance between the electrodes depends on the dielectric constant of the medium. When bubbles of "vacum" are present in the flow, this has the effect of reducing the overall dielectric constant. The bubble rate is proportional to the change in induced capacitance
